Welcome to my website!
I paint in watercolour, oils & mixed media, and I also work with ceramics and installation. I am passionate about nature and the environment, which provide the inspiration for everything I do. Many of my paintings incorporate natural materials such as sand and imprints of seashells, leaves or pine needles. Scottish beaches, woods, plants and insects provide limitless ideas for artwork, and I am currently exploring ways of increasing the connection between specific location & emotional response in my work. I enjoy finding a balance between control & letting pigment & water/mediums ‘find their own way’. I am a lifelong moth enthusiast; moths are playing an increasingly large role in my work.
Born & brought up in Yorkshire, I now live in Abernethy, near Perth, Scotland. I studied Art History at Clare College, Cambridge University & gained a masters degree in Museum & Gallery studies from St Andrews University. I recently completed an MFA degree at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. I now work from a WASPS studio at the Steeple in Newburgh.
